Desonide Side Effects
Possible side effects of desonide are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if these side effects are severe or persistent after your body adjusts to the medicine:
- Skin irritation (local adverse reactions such as stinging, burning, itching, redness, dryness, peeling)
- Acne
- Perioral dermatitis (rash or tiny red bumps around the mouth)
- Small red or white bumps in the treated skin area
- Changes in skin color
Desonide can also cause more serious side effects. Stop using desonide and call your doctor promptly or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:
- A severe skin rash
- Signs of skin infection (redness, swelling, and pus oozing)
The above list may not include all the potential adverse effects of desonide. Contact your healthcare professional if your side effects are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Desonide (Desowen) Overdose: In case someone swallows desonide, call a health care professional or seek medical help immediately. Or call your local poison control center or the national poison control center right away at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
